The topic this week is - technology. In the 2 weeks I've been doing these 23 things, I really have stuck my toes into some new technology and mindsets. First, I did create this blog and customized it. I know that there are many more features available, but I don't know if I'll get to explore them if my main purpose is just to write. I did put a photo from the web on my blog, but that's all so far.
Next, I explored Flickr. This was my first time on a site like this and I was flabbergasted !!! at the range and quality of the pictures available. I searched on Puerto Narino - the tiny village I stayed on the Amazon in Colombia - and there were hundreds of photos. But what astounded me was that there were so many that I could have taken if I had had a camera to use. I really feel like those are "my" photos on Flickr and I want them to keep. But I still wasn't sure if I needed to sign up for a Flickr account because I rarely take pictures. Then......mashups!!! I had heard about these kinds of doings and now I began to see the practical results of using mashups. But I'm afraid that I just couldn't figure out any of the mashup tools. The idea of using Flickr images to create a collage was great, but I had no idea how to use that site/tool. I finally decided to open an account: I need images on the web to get them onto this blog and Flickr is an easy way; with an account, if I play around a bit maybe I can figure out how to use the mashup tools, etc. The image of my daughter Alyssia my first image on Flickr and my first personal image on this blog. I took this with my cell phone last Christmas....
It would be really great if someone else around here was doing the 23 things. But alas..... ~C
